Oops ladies, bikini season might be over but you should still remain sexy for Halloween, says Subway in its latest ad.
In an attempt to tie its sandwiches in to upcoming Halloween season, Subway has created an ad reminding people to stay slender and sexy to fit into those slinky Halloween costumes. Needless to say, the ad promptly got slammed on social media.
Check it out:
Meanwhile social media users have been outraged by the ad:

Just saw the new @SUBWAY commercial shaming people into being "in shape for Halloween costumes". Way to be misogynistic AND sizeist.

The sandwich maker has since released a recent statement saying that the ad’s objective was not to offend anyone and “some people may not have picked up on the intended humor”. It has also removed the video from its site.
