National carrier Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has created a YouTube video to celebrate the one million Facebook fan milestone.
The 52-second video titled “Malaysia Airlines – 1 Million Facebook Fans” features singer/songwriter Yuna, who was appointed as the airline’s social media ambassador in April 2013.
Derek Tan, regional executive director, social media for IPG Mediabrands, told A+M, the idea behind the video goes beyond just sharing the good news with fans.
“The video targets MAS’ travellers and fans. We want to bring out the ambassador and show that MAS is serious about social media.”
The campaign will be rolled out soon to involve on-ground celebration along with the concurrent promotion on its social medias: Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Google+.
Rally assumed a strategic role and has continued to work with the in-house social media team at Malaysia Airlines since last November when its Facebook fanbase was approximately 400,000.
