Visa is restructuring its communications operations in Asia Pacific and dropped agencies FleishmanHillard (FH) and Edelman. This comes as part of a global move by Visa to trim agency partnerships."Visa is continuing to build our in-house team of communications professionals and to that end we have decided to rebalance our agency footprint around the world. This move comes partly as a result of the recent integration of the communications and marketing functions at Visa, which will allow us to gain many more synergies and ensure a fully integrated communications approach,” Antonio Lucio, global chief brand Officer, Visa said in a statement. The latest development has Visa has ending ties with both agencies in Asia Pacific in the recent weeks, Marketing understands.Globally, Visa was working with FleishmanHillard, with its US ops appointing FH in 2004.Lynne Anne Davis, president, Asia Pacific, FleishmanHillard confirmed this to Marketing saying: “We value our three-year relationship with Visa in Asia Pacific and respect their decision.  In 2013, the Visa account was serviced from our Singapore and Hong Kong offices and constituted little more than two percent of our regional revenue.”Davis added that this would have no impact on its staff and offices which served Visa in APAC. She did not comment on the EMEA regions.Edelman also takes care of several Asian markets for Visa, including Singapore. James Cook, director, technology practice for Southeast Asia, Edelman who led the Visa business in Singapore, said that there was minimal impact to the Edelman business.  "We're disappointed that the relationship has ended but understand this is a global decision and we wish them well," he said. Also, Visa is restructuring its communications department.
