Uniqlo expands presence in Indonesia by launching in Surabaya

Japanese retail company and owner of Uniqlo, Fast Retailing, will be expanding its reach with the opening of two stores in Surabaya, East Java.

This move increases the number of Uniqlo stores in Indonesia to 13, with a presence in several regions such as Jakarta, Tangerang in Banten, Bekasi and Bandung in West Java, according to the Jakarta Post. The stores will open in September this year.

According to PT Fast Retailing Indonesia president director Michiaki Tanaka, the two new stores were part of Uniqlo’s plan to expand its reach to customers locally. He added that they were also an opportunity for the company to understand Indonesia’s culture and wisdom, particularly in Surabaya.
