UM China promotes Alex Tan to CCO

UM China, the strategic media agency within IPG Mediabrands, announced that it has promoted Alex Tan to chief client officer China.A media veteran with over 24 years of experience in advertising and media agencies in Asia, Tan has extensive working knowledge of clients across the automobile, banking, finance, cosmetics and FMCG sectors.Tan joined IPG Mediabrands in 2017 as managing partner, managing the agency’s global accounts. In the new role as chief client officer he will oversee all UM China’s clients across three offices in Shanghai, Beijing & Guangzhou and establish best practices to champion UM’s ‘Better Science, Better Art, Better Outcomes’ culture and service offering across all clients in China, the press release said.Tan has spent the last 18 years in China where he has held key management roles with Starcom, MediaCom and more recently OMD prior to IPG Mediabrands; working with multiple brands including General Motors, Maserati, Renault, Volkswagen, UBS, Visa, General Mills, L’Oreal, Mars and Pepsi Foods.Alex Tan said of his appointment, “I am very excited and honored to partner with some of the best talent in our industry to drive better business outcomes for our clients at UM China. I will work closely with our bright young minds to champion our unique proposition of ‘Better Science, Better Art, Better Outcomes’ for all our clients in China.”Tom Wan, CEO of IPG Mediabrands China commented: “Alex has been instrumental in leading our key client teams and setting up best practices.
