Twitter gets serious about ecommerce capabilities

Twitter is testing its “buy” button so consumers can purchase directly from tweets on its platform.According to global reports, Twitter has partnered payments company Stripe Inc allowing it to save a person’s credit card information so users can purchase easily with a mere few clicks, Nathan Hubbard, Twitter’s head of commerce was quoted as saying on a Bloomberg article.The feature is part of a larger strategy to engage Twitter users so they can shop alongside people they follow. This is also expected to tie sales results directly to Twitter influence.Hubbard was also quoted in the Bloomberg article as saying that the offering would build on consumer demand to get products as soon as individuals want them.Ecommerce has been on the minds of both social network giants Facebook and Twitter for a while, in a bid to link sales results with marketing efforts.
