Co-founder of socio-political website The Real Singapore (TRS), Yang Kaiheng, admitted to getting companies to advertise on the TRS Facebook page.
This comes in contradiction to his partner and wife, Ai Takagi, who insisted that the website did not lean on ad revenue.
According to the Straits Times, Yang told the police he managed the advertisement of the Facebook page, which included iPhone and Android apps.
From these ads, Google Adsense paid a certain amount of money to his then girlfriend, Takagi, as advertisement fees.
The Straits Times had previously reported that TRS generated advertising revenue of almost $500k in a span of 17 months.
