Tonton ties up with Maxis to push for quality content

Media Prima Television Networks (MPTN) has partnered up with Maxis to enable Tonton subscribers on the MaxisOne Plan to receive free 5GB video streaming data every month, along with a free 60-day trial of Tonton’s VIP subscription.Subscribers will also be provided abundant entertainment choices with access to over 23,000 hours of content. The service is available on its website at tonton.com.my and the tonton app.Datuk Kamal Khalid, CEO, Media Prima Television Networks said, “The collaboration will allow MaxisOne Plan customers to easily enjoy quality content from their mobile devices with the 5GB of free video streaming data for both tonton and tonton VIP members. Users will be able to upgrade to a tonton VIP membership that comes with zero video ads, download and watch later functionality, access to the full library and loads of VIP perks in just a couple of taps."He added that while there are many OTT players currently available for Malaysian consumers, Tonton’s unique selling proposition is that it provide "the most sought after local content in Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin"."We have big plans to bring more regional content from neighbouring countries,”  Khalid said.He added that the smart partnership with Maxis is the latest done by MPTN having concluded similar collaborations with other telecommunications companies earlier this year to allow consumers greater access to tonton. “The collaborations with the major telecommunications providers present an opportunity for MPTN to reach new target audience who consume media via their mobile devices. As we have always said, at MPTN, we are more than just television,” concluded Khalid.
