Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) has appointed Grebstad Hicks Communications (GHCasia) as its official PR representative for Southeast Asia.
The appointment comes following a competitive pitch which involved by several agencies in the region late last year.
A spokesperson from the agency confirmed the appointment to Marketing saying it is an ongoing retainer.
GHCasia is the first regional PR agency TNZ has roped in.
The agency will be tasked to develop and implement strategic campaigns that enhance the destination offerings of New Zealand to the leisure and business markets across the South and Southeast Asian region. The core areas of focus will be Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
In the first half of 2013, TNZ’s campaign will target families and couples in the region and position New Zealand as a top tourist destination. The campaign will highlight key cities and top natural attractions in New Zealand, and will also leverage partnerships with key airlines and travel operators.
“New Zealand is fast becoming a key tourist destination for the Southeast Asian countries – particularly as it provides a huge diversity of activities and experiences – whether for individuals, couples or families,” Paul Hicks, CEO of GHCasia said. He added that the agency will also be working with Tourism New Zealand to “generate awareness and exposure in these key markets”.
