TikTok, the world’s leading destination for short-form videos, has partnered with UiTM to launch its #CampusIdol Campaign. According to a press statement, the “inaugural challenge” compliments UiTM’s annual KaryaONE21 event and “provides an opportunity to all university students in Malaysia to showcase their creativity and talent from dance, music, art and acting”.
The statement added, that the #CampusIdol initiative resonates with TikTok’s mission of capturing and presenting the world’s creativity, knowledge, and moments that matter by enabling everyone to be a creator.
To further promote this challenge, higher learning institutions such as Management & Science University, Aswara, University of Malaya, and Universiti Kuala Lumpur are also supporting the #CampusIdol campaign by sharing the challenge with their respective art and creative student associations. To encourage more submissions nationwide, TikTok is also working with global youth platform, YouthsToday.com, to engage its student network through campus bulletins and social media channels.
KaryaOne is an annual event organised by UiTM’s Film, Theatre and Animation Faculty as a platform to showcase its students’ talent and art work. As a global community across 150 countries and covering 75 languages, TikTok is used by millions of users daily to express themselves through singing, dancing, art, and more. In addition to hundreds of millions of user-generated videos, the platform has attracted major artists, launched social media influencers, and featured original content from some of the largest entertainment companies.
