Tigerair Philippines has recently filed a proposal with the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) to change its company name in line with the recent acquisition of Cebu Pacific.
Atty. Wyrlou Samodio, head of CAB’s legal division, confirmed to local media last week that Tigerair Philippines is planning to change its name to Go Air, Inc. in light of a new owner.
In March, Cebu Air, Inc. completed its $15-million acquisition of Tigerair Philippines from Singapore-based Tiger Airways Holdings, Inc. It is formerly known as Seair, after Tiger Airways acquired 40% of the company in August 2012, renaming it to Tigerair Philippines in June 2012
Menchie Osial, Tigerair Philippines media contact, shared with BusinessWorld that they already secured CAB approval and is now waiting for the Securities and Exchange Commission’s decision on the move due next week.
In addition to the name change, Osial mentioned that a rebranding exercise is under review and is expected to be finalized in August.
