Thomas Crampton, global managing director at Social@Ogilvy, is saying farewell to the city after seven years, with Ogilvy moving his role to London in a few week’s time.
Crampton will remain in the global role, running the global Social@Ogilvy team of more than 800 social media specialists across more than 35 territories.
Social@Ogilvy’s London office has a team of more than 60 people, double that of the Hong Kong office.
“After 20 years being in the Asia region, it’s time for me to make some changes,” he told Marketing.
“One of the challenges in Hong Kong was to handle global clients from local time zone. Relocating to London opens up opportunities to work with global clients more easily, and enable easier access to New York,” he added.
The social media veteran joined Social@Ogilvy as Asia Pacific director in 2009, launching a Hong Kong team to help companies execute social media strategies across the region. He was promoted to global managing director in 2013.
Some of the biggest global clients for Social@Ogilvy include IBM, Nestlé, Unilever and Amex.
