Things you didn't know about Nissan's vids

Following yesterday's story on Nissan's Almera Affair campaign, A+M asked VJ Anand, creative director of Creative Juice, for some interesting details about the making of the videos."Ultimately, it is not just to entertain. It is about Nissan selling their cars but by giving the brand and the car a voice, an emotional connection with humour," said VJ.While we await the release of the third video, here are some interesting trivia about the campaign.1.  The client Nissan liked Kavin Jay because he looked like the Teddy Bear that was in their initial campaign with a viral YouTube video entitled "Leaked video - Car Shaking at Lembah Kiara TTDI".2. The director of the videos, Kubhaer, was part of the Mission Impossible 4 crew in Dubai ("Although he was probably just throwing sand in front of the camera," VJ said.)3. Creative Juice also came up with short funny videos to talk about features of the car.4. They could have fitted four people in the car boot instead of just three but it was too hot.5. The initial idea for the campaign was to address the long waiting list for the Almera models. The campaign would have been called "Waiting for Almera". However, that issue was resolved before the campaign started, hence the new direction.6. Creative Juice writers who worked on Nando's and actors of Popteevee's The Effing Showalso contributed in the scriptwriting process.7. The casting in the first video was impromptu as Ezra Zaid of Popteevee and VJ decided to be a part of it to demonstrate how spacious the car is.8. Deep down, VJ wishes the webisodes could turn into an online sitcom.9. The soundtrack to the carwash scene was composed by Hardesh Singh, founder of The Greatest Hits. Hardesh has worked with the late Yasmin Ahmad on her movie soundtracks.10. The campaign has also appeared in the classified section of a local newspaper. And for other non-marketing related facts:1) The curly mustache of the car washer with a bicycle in the second video is real.2) The line "The peacock has left the temple" was thought of impromptu on the day of the shoot by VJ, Hardesh and Ezra Zaid.3) Jessica, the sexy carwash girl, is Australian.4) The scenes were shot on location at the home of Umapagan Ampikaipakan (Uma), co-writer of The Effing Show.If you haven't viewed the videos, visit Nissan Malaysia's official YouTube page.
