Chinese consumer electronics company TCL has launched a global marketing campaign to get audiences to create user-generated content that demonstrates the things that make them a legend in their everyday lives.Entitled “Born a Legend”, the campaign encourages TCL consumers and employees to produce and upload their own inspirational short videos to their own social media pages or the TCL website with the hashtags #TCL and #BornALegend between 1 August and 29 September.TCL will then select what it deems the best videos and advance them to a further stage where fans from around the world will be able to vote for their favourites. The three highest-ranking videos with the most votes will be announced as the overall winners on 30 September, with the top submission being awarded a US$10,000 (HK$78,273) prize.“I am thrilled to be kicking-off our global campaign and I hope our passionate consumers and employees will join the fun and participate,” said Eileen Sun, chief marketing officer at the overseas business group of TCL’s smart device group. “At TCL, we always strive to inspire everyone to be true to their dreams, keep pushing themselves, and be their own legends. I believe this spirit will help people throughout their lives and in whatever they do.” This campaign follows an ongoing “Born a Legend” branded video series project launched earlier this year in a partnership between TCL and ESPN. It features six professional athletes – including Defia Rosmaniar, Kuldeep Yadav, Melanie Leupolz, and Alexa Moreno – who overcame their initial struggles to become role models.
