TBWA\China has hoisted the Jolly Roger with the announcement of the Pirate Collective. The initiative intends to draw together a community of talent from various fields to work with the company on client projects and campaigns. Those who sign up to the collective will be able to share and introduce their work with the agency, as well as network with TBWA’s creative, strategic, and business leaders, and other collective members. TBWA is also offering up the use of its office, studio space, creative tools, software, and equipment to any who come aboard.[embed]https://youtu.be/QEKX2eG13ng[/embed]“As TBWA\China’s creativity continues to progress with a growing ‘maker culture’ and a new wave of quality talent, we’ve noticed an increasing desire for work flexibility with companies and brands they admire,” said Joanne Lao, CEO of TBWA\Greater China. “With the Pirate Collective, we’re building a high-calibre creative community from a diverse range of backgrounds, around a unique arrangement that allows them to partner with TBWA in producing iconic work for some of the world’s leading brands.”The pool TBWA is hoping to build with this initiative is certainly diverse. Even an incomplete list of roles the announcement calls to includes film directors, photographers, musicians, animators, illustrators, content creators, influencers, designers, writers, developers, technologists, art directors, strategists, and producers. The agency has posted invites on WeChat, Weibo, and LinkedIn to attract prospective members.“We piloted the program earlier this year and now have over 50 talented creators as part of our collective, enabling us to bring together the right talent for specific projects,” added Lao.This is the latest of interesting expansions by TBWA\China recently. Late last year the agency launched its film production arm BOLT and the creative technology Q Lab.
