Tap & Go’s new campaign encourages local retailers to go cashless

HKT’s mobile payment service Tap & Go has recruited local small business owners to front its new marketing campaign “Tap & Go – Go QR” in a bid to encourage local merchants to go cashless.

“Go QR” is a mobile payment acceptance service for retailers using QR codes, and is said to be suitable for start-ups and small merchants as no extra investment for point-of-sale equipment is required.

Besides an online video, the campaign also spans OOH.

Each merchant who joins the service will be provided with a unique QR code for Tap & Go customers to make payments. Using the Tap & Go mobile wallet app, customers only need to turn on the “Go QR” scanner to scan the merchant’s QR code, input the transaction amount and confirm the payment.

Monita Leung, head of HKT Payment, said, “We have been supporting start-ups and small merchants who share the same vision in driving for a cashless city. We are confident that the introduction of ‘Go QR’ will encourage more start-ups and small merchants to go for cashless transaction given the low capital entry requirement.”
