SPH's tabla! partners online media company for sales in India and Middle East

Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) has appointed online media company Connected to India to sell advertising space for its English weekly tabla! in India and the Middle East.Connected to India’s sales and marketing team will work closely with the tabla! team in Singapore in supporting advertising sales. In addition, it will create unique innovations and packages for digital channels and produce high-quality video features to make significant improvements in the revenue tabla! can generate from India and the Middle East.“We see synergies with Connected to India in marketing tabla! in countries outside Singapore. We have engaged them in improving our outreach to brands in India and the Middle East markets which can benefit tremendously from tabla! We look forward to working with Connected to India and supporting the team in ensuring that this partnership is a successful one,” Jawharilal Rajendran, editor, Tamil Murasu and tabla! said.“We are very excited about the partnership with the SPH Group. We have already created a plan to reach out to brands in the FMCG, real estate, banking, finance, state tourism and other sectors where interesting and innovative marketing solutions can be created to help them in creating their marketing objectives,” Himanshu Verma, founder and CEO, Connected to India said.This appointment follows the news of SPH's third quarter net profit, which rose 64.3% to SG$47.4 million compared with the same period a year ago. This was due to lower impairment charges, the group said. Nonetheless, media business revenue continued to decline SG$14.6 million or 8% to SG$167.9 million for 3Q 2018. Ng Yat Chung, CEO of SPH, said the group will “continue to sharpen [its] media capabilities in the face of digital disruption.” SPH has also made several key management appointments to boost its “First to Digital” initiatives.
