Sun Life Hong Kong (SLHK) has launched a community programme to help Hongkongers achieve healthier lifestyles with a series of interactive games, sessions, workshops, and seminars.

The pre-diabetes control management programme (掌糖人計劃) includes a public Facebook group "Siu Tong Café" ( 糖不得冰室) sponsored by SLHK. Launched in February 2020, the group offers free medical Q&A sessions by professional doctors, with the first session to be launched in early March, focusing on gestational diabetes.

"We feel that there is a strong need for raising awareness about pre-diabetes. The "Siu Tong Café" is a platform to provide education on pre-diabetes to the community in an interactive way," said Haymans Fung, CMO of Sun Life Hong Kong.

"Since 2012, diabetes has been our global priority – a focus that ties into our purpose of helping our Clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives," he added.

SLHK is also offering interactive games themed around traditional Cha chaan teng restaurants. The first game, “Order Please”, has already been launched, rewarding participants with a cooling towel and a set of WhatsApp stickers.

Additional elements of the campaign include providing breaking news on health and well-being activities, workshops, and medical seminars, as well as information packs about effective workouts and healthy eating and living habits. A virtual assistant will notify users of regular updates and market insights sourced from research and statistics.
