StarHub’s new Chinese New year Facebook video titled #NeverGrowApart celebrates the joys of giving back to family members who have been there for one another. It also reminds consumers to stay close to their family even as they grow up and chart their own lives.
BLK J, DDB, production house Chuan Pictures and local director Royston Tan were involved in the production of the video, which garnered over 1.2k reactions, 227 shares and 24 comments at the time of writing. The video will be available on StarHub’s social media channels and screened on StarHub TV, as well as in Golden Village cinemas for approximately six weeks.
The video features a male protagonist showing his parents around the new house together with his wife. While surveying the new house, there is a hint of sadness on the mother’s face, as she realises that her son has grown up and now has his own life and family. Over dinner, the male protagonist reminisces about the past by informing his parents that the fish was from the stall that they used to frequent at the market.
After dinner, he offers his mother a red packet while wishing her “Happy Lunar New Year”. A while later, the mother opens the red packet to find the key to her son’s new house and a note in Chinese, which translates to “Do come over anytime you want.”
“Amid the Lunar New Year festivities and reunion meals, we hope everyone will have the opportunity to build stronger familial connections that will withstand the test of time,” Oliver Chong, VP of brand experience, StarHub, said.
