Nissan Motor Asia Pacific

Dr. Lavanya Wadgaonkar leads communications in Asia & Oceania (A&O) for Nissan Motor Asia Pacific. Her focus is to strengthen the reputation of the company and its brands by maximising Nissan’s presence in the A&O region. She also drives internal communication strategies across the region to support employee engagement.

Lavanya reports to Yutaka Sanada, regional senior vice president and head of the operating committee for the A&O region, and Jonathan Adashek, Global Vice President for Communications and Chief Communications Officerfor Nissan Motor Company Ltd.
With more than twenty years of experience in communications across various industries, including automotive, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, and IT, Lavanya has a proven track record in formulating and executing strategic marketing, communications, brand management and CSR plans.

Prior to her current role, Lavanya was vice president of communications and CSR for Nissan Motor India. In this role, she was responsible for CSR and strategic, external and internal communications for Nissan and Datsun brands. Before that, Lavanya was general manager and head of marketing and public affairs for India at Eaton Corporation.

Lavanya is a multi-faceted individual who has been a classical dancer and theatre artist, as well as a radio presenter and producer of radio documentaries. She has won two national awards from the Prime Minister of India for her documentaries. Lavanya has also published a book of stories in translation on female empowerment, as well as several academic papers – including articles on the language of visual art.

She also strongly believes in individual social responsibility and volunteers at many NGOs dedicated to eradicating child labor, environmental issues and promoting Indian heritage and culture.
Lavanya holds a PhD and MPhil from Osmania University, Hyderabad, and specialises in the language of cinema in India and its effectiveness in representing socio-economic issues.
