Social fan science firm rakes in $10mln in funding

Social fan science firm Starcount has raked in US$10million in funding.It has also appointed former CEO of Tesco Sir Terry Leahy and founders of data solutions firm dunnhumby Clive Humby and Edwina Dunn on its board.These will aim to oversee the development of Starcount’s analytical capability.Leahy contributed a significant investment in Starcount, as part of a US$ 10million funding round from private investors and previous backers.Humby and Dunn join after Starcount acquired their business H&D Ventures. Humby will act as chief data scientist in Starcount and Dunn as chief operating officer.The firm measures the interests and trends of people and celebrities through social media, aiming to apply data science to help brands navigate social media.
