Sliding in the B-Side

Amidst the slew of traditional media moving to the digital space, here's another one that joins the list.Local business radio station BFM89.9 launched a magazine app called the B-Side, under the tagline "Sexy Ideas for a Better Malaysia"."The B-Side is about surprises. What Malaysians are all about," said Malek Ali (pictured), founder of BFM.Targeted at PMEBs, the magazine app is lead by editor Jason Tan, former editor of The Edge's supplement Off the Edge."The B-Side attempts to capture something about the complexity of being human, from a Malaysian perspective. Hence, you can look forward, beyond frivolous matters, to where the really fun mishmash lives," Tan said, adding that the name is a hat tip to the original bootleg culture of music and its spirit of adventure. The app looks for advertisers in the luxury segment and brands that have never had the opportunity to be on air, Malek tells A+M.The B-Side will highlight issues on current affairs, entertainment, politics and life in Malaysia, with the inaugural issue this November featuring a total of 20 stories of an eclectic mix of themes, from baby-making to the constitution. This new app is a new platform that adds to BFM's presence on radio, internet live radio, podcasts and videos. The B-Side is available for download on iPhone and Android platforms on the first day of every month.
