SingTel calls media pitch, puts MEC on alert

SingTel is calling a pitch for its media buying duties in Singapore.

The incumbent is MEC, and the pitch is in its early stages, a SingTel spokesperson told Marketing. The agency has not yet responded to a request for comment.

Shortlisted agencies will engage in chemistry workshops with the SingTel team, following which a final shortlist of three will be briefed on a strategic brief for final presentations.

The entire process is expected to conclude in no more than 12 weeks, said SingTel’s tender.

SingTel’s creative and media pitches have always been hotly contested. In October last year, it gave Ogilvy & Mather its full integrated portfolio for its marketing duties, moving away from BBDO Singapore. Agencies such as JWT, TBWA, Leo Burnett  were also in the pitch. Prior to that, the account was split between OgilvyOne and BBDO; and the latter had a five year relationship with SingTel.

The work SingTel has executed with MEC include campaigns such as its Hawker Heroes challenge, featuring Gordon Ramsey.

The pitch is managed by R3.
