Singapore Airlines (SIA) is sponsoring the 28th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games which will be held in Singapore from 5 to 16 June 2015. This is in a bid to further strengthen its support for sports and tourism industry.
According to Nicholas Ionides, vice president Public Affairs Singapore Airlines, SIA will be running ads to promote this partnership on local print media from 27 April 2015. The agency behind the ads will be TBWA, SIA’s official creative partner. However, Ionides declined to comment on the sponsorship amount.
As the official airline partner for the 28th SEA Games, SIA will sponsor Economy Class tickets to Singapore as prizes for promotional activities around the region. One key component of this engagement will be “NILA’s Quest” which is a web-based digital game specially created for the 28th SEA Games.
In addition to its sponsorship, SIA will offer special fares for officials who are travelling to Singapore for the Games as well as publicity through its proprietary media channels reaching customers travelling worldwide throughout the Airline’s extensive network of 60 destinations in 33 countries. The channels include SilverKris, SIA’s inflight magazine which is available in print, tablet and online editions; and KrisWorld, SIA’s inflight entertainment system.
SIA will also give away handheld fans which are included in the gift packs that will be distributed during the preview, opening and closing ceremonies. Singapore Airlines cabin crew will be participating in the opening and closing ceremonies.
“As a strong supporter of both sports and tourism, Singapore Airlines is proud to be the Official Airline Partner of the 28th Southeast Asian Games. We are especially honoured to support this milestone sporting event which will be held in Singapore after a 22-year hiatus, as we celebrate the country’s 50th birthday this year,” said Singapore Airlines executive vice president commercial, Mak Swee Wah.
Toh Boon Yi, chief, community & corporate outreach, Singapore SEA Games Organising Committee (SINGSOC) said, “Singapore Airlines is a Singapore icon, and we are very pleased to work with a top-class partner for the 28th SEA Games. They have been involved in the local sporting scene and we hope that its support will set off more involvement from Corporate Singapore.
