PropertyGuru Malaysia names new country manager

PropertyGuru Malaysia has appointed Sheldon Fernandez as the new country manager.Fernandez (pictured) has over 13 years of online and sales leadership experience prior to joining PropertyGuru, having honed his experience in roles such as general management of Adecco, Nextel Communications, Marcus Evans. Most recently, he was managing director of JobsDB in Singapore and Malaysia.“We are confident that he is the right person for the job, as our PropertyGuru values have always been about teamwork, respect, developing talent and to deliver the best information for consumers seeking to make the right choice for property,” Steve Melhuish, chief executive officer and Co Founder of PropertyGuru said.Fernandez will be reporting directly to the CEO, and will be responsible for all of Malaysia’s sales, partnership activities and will be the key representative for PropertyGuru in Malaysia.According to press statement from the company, over the last four years PropertyGuru has grown rapidly in Malaysia to more than 4,500 paying agents in their database currently. Active property listings on the Malaysian portal increased from 60,000 to 370,000 in the last two years while traffic has grown from 700,000 to 1.8 million monthly in the same period. Over 40% of PropertyGuru users are unique and do not use other portals for their property search.The statement also added that mobile traffic has also increased, making up more than 38% of total traffic. PropertyGuru Group has the most popular suite of property search apps in the industry with 2.5 million downloads on the PropertyGuru Mobile App.Most recently, PropertyGuru also announced the powering of Maybank’s mobile property finder app. The app, launched in April, aims to help prospective buyers search for properties either for residential, investment, or business purposes, within their preferred location or price range that suits their financial profile.  This app was launched as the brand took on a new new look and feel of its website, property price trends, new mortgage calculators, tools and comparison engine in Malaysia.
