Samsung looks to claw back share of smartphone market

To promote its latest flagship smartphones Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, Korean mobile giant Samsung has launched a series of new campaigns across the Mainland.With the tagline of “Next is Now”, two 30-second TVCs feature Chinese signer Weiwei Tan and Chinese ballerina Siting Qiu to promote the wireless charging function and the stylish design of the new phones.These served as a local adaption for its global campaigns starred with British singer Rita Ora and American ballerina Rachelle Di Stasio, showing the brand's emphasis on the China market.It may seem as an effort for the brand to regain its market share in China.As the world's largest smartphone market, China is an important battlefield for mobile firms. Apart from its long-term rival Apple, Samsung is facing fierce competitions from local Chinese brands such as Huawei and Xiaomi.According to market research firm Kantar Worldpanel, China’s top three smartphones during the December to February period were Apple’s iPhone 6, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note and Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus.
