PROTON shortlists 2 media agencies for final round of pitching

PROTON has shortlisted UM and m/SIX for its final round of pitching, A+M understands. Meanwhile, A+M understands PROTON has also shortlisted CD Advertising and M&C Saatchi for a separate creative project pitch. PROTON could not be contacted by A+M at the time of writing.This comes after it recently appointed essence Burson-Marsteller to manage social media duties for a year, with work currently underway. Essence Burson-Marsteller's appointment followed a pitch held in March which saw approximately five agencies vying for the account. The incumbent on the account is APD and A+M understands the agency will still be managing website duties for PROTON.The company recently opened its new Pantai Bharu Corporation 3S outlet, offering sales, service and spare parts to consumers. This was in a bid to provide a better consumer experience. Dato’ Shamshudin Nor, owner and shareholder of PROTON, said the company needs to move with the times and remain relevant in order to succeed. "The new area will provide convenience to customers as a one stop centre for sales, service and spare parts," he added.Recently, PROTON witnessed a 50% growth in sales during the month of June, selling 6,173 cars to Malaysians who took advantage of the zero rating for GST and its Duit Raya promotion. In October 2017, Li Chun Rong was appointed CEO of PROTON, following the departure of Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali. Meanwhile, Abdul Rashid Musa was named CEO of PROTON Edar, a unit which handles marketing of the company, replacing Rohime Shafie who was appointed the head of automotive in the department of automotive distribution and manufacturing and engineering of PROTON’s parent company DRB-HICOM.
