We all know Hong Kong seriously has a thing with housing. This is why localist lawmakers have been making headlines brutally pointing out how the city lacks affordable housing, and why HKTVmall rolled out its latest marketing stunt “Win $4 million to buy a home“, reflecting the overall eagerness to be a homeowner.
And at this year’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) awards by Junior Chamber International, one of the winners, Fiona Wong, was recognised just because she managed to buy a flat after five years of work and pay off the mortgage in the next three years. You’d be hard-pressed to find similar examples overseas.
Local home furnishing store Pricerite has now jumped on the bandwagon as well.
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Pricerite has recently launched a user-generated content campaign, which encourages young couples to submit their own wedding video to compete for a year of free accomodation in a 460-sq feet duplex unit in Causeway Bay, valued at HKD$13 million, fully furnished with Pricerite’s tailor-made furniture (TMF).
The company’s tagline “small space, big universe” inspired the objective of the campaign “Couple Universe Newly Married Couple Election 2016” to go a step further in celebrating the ‘universe’ of couples and how Pricerite tailor-made furniture helps them create a dream home in limited spaces.
If you are interested in the game, you have to have gotten married between 2012 and 2016. All you need to do is submit the wedding video to Pricerite’s campaign mini-site. You may also submit a one-minute self-introduction video to earn extra points.
The campaign was announced on Facebook on 28 October and has generated positive reviews – 225k views, 777 likes and 486 shares.
The election has three awards in total, namely Couple Universe Favourite Married Couple, Couple Universe Best Director and Couple Universe Best Married Couple.
Ultimately, three married couples will be shortlisted by professional judges and proceed to the second round competition. The winner will be voted on by the public through Facebook Reactions.
The voting starts on 18 November and the result will be announced by end of November. The winner of “Couple Universe Best Married Couple” will be able to live in the duplex unit in Yoo Residence in Causeway Bay, together with Pricerite tailor-made furniture for one year without paying any rent.
