PLUS Malaysia has picked MediaCom Malaysia to manage media duties. The agency will lead the development of strategic communication planning, media planning and buying.
In a statement to A+M, Plus Malaysia’s chief commercial officer Christine Liew said the appointment follows a pitch held in the first quarter of 2019 and is for a period of one year. The incumbent Unity was also vying for the account. According to Liew, MediaCom was chosen as there was a fit in strategy and work is expected to roll out soon, beginning with its Hari Raya campaign.
She added that PLUS is looking for a partner that not only has a strong understanding of the media landscape in Malaysia, but also has the ability to engage Malaysians and drive PLUS’ transformation journey.
Liew said it is in the brand’s DNA to champion road safety on its expressways. “PLUS Malaysia’s conviction in doing so needs to be coherently and clearly communicated to all our customers and stakeholders. They need to know that we will take good care of them, every single step of the way,” she added.
Meanwhile, MediaCom’s GM Saurabh Chandrashekhar (pictured centre) said the agency is ready to hit the road running and feels privileged to partner with an iconic Malaysian brand with a rich heritage.
“With PLUS we share a growth mindset and are looking forward to applying the best mix of our people and tools around strategy, planning and bring to life some great executions that drive PLUS forward,” he added.
