Penang steps up marketing initiatives

Penang state tourism has partnered with British tour operator Premier Holidays on a new marketing campaign, aiming to promote and attract more travellers to the island.The campaign features a selection of itineraries showcasing the range of accommodation on the Malaysian island, with additional added value from the hotels specifically catered for the initiative. These hotels include Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang resort and spa, Bayview Beach Resort and Eastern and Oriental Hotel.David Carlaw, head of Faraway product at Premier Holidays said: “Penang has been a popular destination for Premier Holidays. We have worked with our hotel partners to bring agents, and clients, exclusive offers which are sure to increase bookings to the destination.”Travel agents that help to promote could also earn between £25 to £150 for every inclusive Penang booking made, dependent on booking value.Penang – which is linked to the west coast of mainland Malaysia by a four-mile bridge – is one of the most famous beach destinations in the country. Its capital, Georgetown - listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, embraces modernity while still retaining the old world charm filled with long history and traditions.
