Reuters has announced a pair of new Asian partnerships, which will add content providers Alfo and Star News to its Reuters Connect media marketplace. This adds to the list of third-party content partners for the platform, which aims to be a totally comprehensive library service for subscribers seeking multimedia material. Other Reuters Connect partners include BBC, USA TODAY Sports, Accuweather, Variety, WENN, Newsflare, Red Bull Media House, and Hollywood TV.  As of this announcement, the archive for Asian News International (ANI) will also be available.. Justine Flatley, Product Manager for Content Partnerships, Reuters, said: “Reuters is committed to making the Connect platform a one-stop-shop for all our customers’ needs and partnering with Star News and AFLO will help us to deliver more local news, entertainment and sports features from the region.” The reasoning behind the partnership expansion is understandable. Tokyo-based Aflo is notable for its strong body of sports content. The company is set to provide coverage of the 2019 Rugby World Cup and looking ahead is listed as the official Tokyo 2020 Olympics photography service. Star News however, has become a major source for news and entertainment material from Korea, a region which in 2018 received a huge increase in worldwide public exposure. Park Jun-chul, Chief Director, Star News said: “We believe our presence on such a global platform will allow greater access to anyone interested in K-pop and K-stars across Asia and beyond.”
