Paras Sharma, vice president of Fox International Channels, is set to take on a new role at Viacom International Media Networks as vice president of MTV Brand, Comedy Central & Digital Media Asia.
Sharma (pictured) starts with Viacom on 17 March and will be based in Singapore, reporting to Indra Suharjono, executive vice-president and managing director for Asia.
He will spearhead and implement strategies to grow the brands across different platforms in Asia.
Sharma was with FIC since its restructure where News Corp acquired ESPN’s stake in the ESPN Star Sports and rebranded it to Fox Sports in various territories across the region.
Prior to the restructure he was vice president of ESPN STAR Sports Asia, responsible for leading integrated marketing and communication programs across 24 markets in Asia, overseeing consumer, affiliate and trade marketing, corporate communications, on-air promotions and digital media.
He has been with ESPN since 2002.
Before joining ESPN, he also held various roles at advertising agencies such as McCann Erickson and JWT.
Sharma replaces Sian Ju Tan, the Asia VP of MTV & Comedy Central Brands.
Tan, who has been serving her notice, has been part of the MTV family for over 18 years.
