PAL to launch mobile booking app with Smart

Passengers of Philippines Airlines can now book and pay their flights via a mobile app developed in partnership with the Smart Communications.The flag carrier’s online booking system will be integrated with a e-payment service called “MePay” created by Smart e-Money (SMI), a subsidiary of Smart established in 2001.According to a statement, the PAL web app is scheduled to go live in the coming months, while the mobile app for iOS, Android and Windows phones will be released early next year. It will support PAL’s existing payment channels such as the PAL Internet Booking Engine, authorized payment partners, PAL ticketing offices and partner travel agencies.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LVZYf4CXj8The tie-up allows PAL to reach 70 million Smart, Talk ‘N Text and Sun Cellular subscribers, expanding their payment options to now include credit card, debit card, Smart Money, ATM and offline payments, among others. In addition, the telco’s customers can pay for their flight in any of the more than 10,000 sari-sari stores, convenience stores and outlets that are part of the Smart Padala network.“With smartphone adoption increasing around the country, it is but natural for PAL to extend their perks and services for flyers to their mobile phones,” said Smart President and CEO Napoleon L. Nazareno. “This partnership is part of our commitment to allow our subscribers to ‘live more’ by also making it convenient for them to travel more, wherever they may please.”PAL President and COO Jaime J. Bautista said, “This new service is the flag carrier’s latest initiative aimed at enhancing the total customer experience when booking and paying for a flight via mobile devices.
