Omnicom Media Group has promoted Mark Halliday (pictured left) to CEO, Performance. Prior to his new role, Halliday was the APAC managing director for the group’s programmatic agency Accuen (now OMG Programmatic) for close to two years, where he led programmatic planning and buying for the group across the region.
Before that, he was at Manning Gottlieb OMD for more than five years, with his last role being head of mobile. Halliday said that he is looking forward to taking on a wider remit to further build out its credentials and bring added differentiation to the group’s performance capabilities in Asia Pacific.
The appointment comes with the departure of the group’s CEO, digital APAC, Lee Smith (pictured right), who leaves to create his own venture. Smith oversaw the growth of digital and the launch of Airwave Mobile, Resolution Media, OMG Programmatic and most recently, Annalect, across Asia Pacific.
Cheuk Chiang, CEO, Omnicom Media Group APAC said Halliday’s new role will further strengthen the group’s performance offering in the region. “Smith is returning to his entrepreneurial roots. We wish him well and cannot thank him enough for the capabilities he has ignited across our agencies in the region over the last 10 years,” Chiang added.
“I’m off but with the support of the leadership team in APAC. We’ve been working on an agreeable exit together that ensures continuity for the business as well as the opportunity for me to break out on my own,” Smith said.
