OMD has moved to take full responsibility over a letter sent to media organisations which threatened to pull advertising over negative reporting of the MTR Corporation.
After the Easter weekend media storm, OMD sought the help of PR agency Fleishman-Hillard to help retract the content of the letter sent to local media on 19 April.
The brief OMD statement said the MTR never instructed the company to send such a letter and retracted its contents.
Over the weekend, the MTR moved to deflect blame on to OMD and said the media agency misunderstood instructions in sending the letter to 15 media groups.
“The corporation always respects freedom of the press and has never had any intention to intervene with such freedom,” an MTR statement said.
