OCBC is looking to appoint a creative agency in Malaysia. This comes weeks after the Singaporean bank concluded its creative pitch in Singapore, moving its account to local independent agency GOVT from McCann Singapore after five years.
In a statement to A+M, Julius Evanson, head, corporate communications, OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad said, “With the proliferation of new marketing trends and developments in recent years, OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad, as with our parent in Singapore, felt it would be timely to call for a creative agency pitch to explore new ideas that can further elevate OCBC’s brand presence in Malaysia. We recently commenced the search and expect to make a final selection by early next month.”
He added that the bank has worked closely with McCann Erickson, since 2011, and are grateful for the dedication, creative insights and strong support from the agency.
“Our partnership with McCann Erickson over the years has helped to raise the profile of our brand. McCann Erickson will serve out their contract as our creative agency of record until the end of the year. In our search for a new creative agency, we are looking for one that will similarly understand our brand values and objectives, helping us further strengthen the OCBC brand,” he added.
Kelvin Wong, VP group corporate communications, OCBC Bank Singapore earlier said with the proliferation of new marketing trends and developments in recent years, OCBC felt it would be timely to call for a creative agency pitch to explore new ideas that can further elevate OCBC’s brand presence.
This year, OCBC bank also appointed Optimedia Malaysia its media agency. Optimedia is one of the three media agency brands under Publicis One in Malaysia apart from Starcom and Mediavest. It was tasked to focus strengthening the OCBC brand and its engagement with consumers.
