Nokia names new head of APAC

Nokia has appointed Sandeep Girotra as head of Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) market in 2016. In his new role, Girotra will lead customer operations, drive the business growth strategy and superior customer engagement services across multiple channels for the APJ market.Girotra, who has been heading the Indian market since 2011, will be based in Singapore. Over a tenure spanning 20 years in Nokia, Girotra has held several senior management positions in strategy, business development and sales.In his recent role as head of India Market, Girotra is credited with efficiently driving growth and developing deep relationships with customers in this region. Girotra takes over from Paul Tyler, who after a long and successful career with Nokia, has decided to pursue his next steps outside of the company.Ashish Chowdhary, chief customer operations officer at Nokia, said: “I welcome Sandeep Girotra as head of APJ and am confident that with his strong track record and proven management expertise, he will be able to drive the APJ market to the next level. Girotra has played a key role in the Indian market in his current and previous roles. He has succesfully led the Indian market, which employs nearly 15,000 people, and has shown consistent, strong and always improving performance across all key parameters.”Girotra said, ”I am delighted to take on this exciting role in such a growing and diverse market, which spans a varied geographical scope, ranging from advanced telecommunications markets such as Japan and Korea, to dynamic and developing countries like Myanmar and Thailand.
