Newly-appointed Carat Malaysia CEO heads to IPG

Carat Malaysia’s recently named CEO, Darren Yuen is heading over to lead IPG Mediabrands’ BPN outfit as managing director.He will be responsible for the overall operations and profitability of BPN in Malaysia, as the agency brand continues to grow. Yuen replaces Ramakrishnan CN who headed BPN for the past two years. Rama is moving on to pursue his personal goals.Dentsu Aegis Network has confirmed the news to A+M adding that Carat Malaysia will be naming its CEO in due course. In the interim, Nicky Lim, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Malaysia will oversee Carat’s local operations, supported by Carat Asia Pacific’s key leaders, Sean O’Brien, CEO, and Kevin Walsh, managing director.Yuen (pictured) was hired a month ago as a replacement for Bala Pomaleh, who took up the role of CEO of IPG Mediabrands.  He was tasked to lead a team of over 100 and reported to Lim. He has over 19 years of experience moving on to focus on media planning and client account management, before rising the ranks to general manager in business operations management, the position that he last held for over three years. Yuen was hired by Carat to lead a team of over 100 talents.“Carat is our gem within the network. Together with the team, I have no doubt we will continue to deliver innovative solutions to clients and stay ahead of competition,” Lim affirmed.Most recently the network also saw the departure SP Lee, who has been the CEO and executive creative director of Dentsu Malaysia since August 2003.
