General insurer MSIG Holdings Asia has appointed Rebecca Ang Lee (pictured) to the newly created role of chief marketing officer. Prior to the move, Lee was senior vice president, overseeing brand and communications, as well as business excellence across ASEAN, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
In her new role, Lee will be tasked with driving the group’s key priorities on branding and sustainability as part of her expanded portfolio. She will also be the lead of the newly set up Sustainability Taskforce within the region. Currently, she sits on the committee of the brand and communications working group to provide strategic direction on the group’s international branding initiatives.
She will continue to be based in Singapore and continue to lead brand, communications and business excellence activities in ASEAN, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand, reporting to Iris Yuet, executive officer, corporate services.
Lee has over 20 years of industry experience in marketing communications. Before MSIG, she was general manager at Leo Burnett for over two years. She also headed up the marketing communications department at Standard Chartered Singapore for more than four years, and oversaw all 360 marketing communications across consumer banking products.
Lee’s promotion also comes on the back of MSIG appointment of a new chief risk officer, William Song, who will be responsible for risk management across the region including ASEAN, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
A statement added that the key appointments are a bid to help drive the group’s medium-term management plan “Vision 2021”, announced in April this year. The plan highlights the company’s strategy to boost digitalisation, reform business and risk portfolios. This is while pursuing strengths such as in diversity, capital, human assets, customer base, and more.
“I am very pleased to announce the appointments of both outstanding professionals who are experts in their fields. Song and Lee will significantly strengthen our senior management layer, allowing us to effectively build on our enterprise risk management and brand presence in the region,” Alan Wilson, regional CEO, said.
Earlier this year, MSIG picked M&C Saatchi Singapore as its creative agency. The objective of the appointment was to drive to drive MSIG’s brand presence and digital transformation across key markets. This includes Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Hong Kong.
