MP & Silva bolsters APAC strategic partnership team

MP & Silva, an international sports media company, has appointed Sherman Tan as head of strategic partnership & business development (Asia). He will be based at MP and Silva’s Asia Pacific office in Singapore and will report directly to Beatrice Lee, managing director Asia Pacific.

In this newly created role, Tan will be responsible for overseeing sponsorship projects across Asia. Tan’s appointment bolsters MP & Silva’s focus on further growth in Asia in exploring new commercial and sponsorship opportunities. Tan will also be actively involved in the strategic partnership with the Football Association of Singapore (FAS) in areas including commercial opportunities and event management.

In a press statement, MP & Silva said that it aims to continue expanding its business following its strategic partnership with the FAS covering sponsorship, media rights and international events. The company also recently bagged a deal as the Football Association of Malaysia’s Global Advisor for all media and commercial rights across its extensive line-up of competitions.

Tan (pictured) has more than 23 years of experience in sponsorship, advertising and events management across the region, and joins MP & Silva from Total Sports Asia where he was vice president of sales and Partnerships SEA. Prior to that, he was the head of the events management group in ESPN STAR Sports.

In his role, he played an instrumental role in securing multi-year sponsorship deals for events such as the KIA World Extreme Games, Guinness World Pool Series, Achilles Formula Drift Asia Series and Tiger Street Football Asia. He also has an extensive background in broadcast sponsorship with companies such as MTV Asia and MediaCorp.

Newly appointed CEO Marco Auletta of MP & Silva said: “We are extremely pleased to have someone with Tan’s extensive experience and keen insights into the sponsorship arena in Asia. He has a proven track record having secured multi-year sponsorship deals for a variety of sporting events, and we look forward to leveraging on his well-established relationships to continue building on our success across the region.”

In addition to the recent partnership and agreement announcements between MP & Silva and the FAS and FAM respectively, the company are also official media advisors to the Olympic Council of Asia, the FIA Formula E, the Association of National Olympic Committees, and are the International Development Partners to the Scottish Professional Football League.

MP & Silva’s portfolio of media clients and partners globally includes FIFA, UEFA, the English Football League, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, French Football League and English Football Association, the Ekstraklasa Polish Football League and the Belgian Football League.
