Monash University’s ex-marketing lead Ooi Lay Tin joins International University Malaya-Wales

Ooi Lay Tin (pictured), former deputy director, marketing at Monash University Malaysia has joined International University Malaya-Wales (IUMW) as head, sales and marketing. She reports to vice-chancellor Tay Kay Luan.

In a statement to A+M, Ooi said she will spearhead and guide the team to achieve growth in terms of student enrolment, branding the university and enhancing digital marketing outreach in both the Malaysian markets and international markets. IUMW was established based on a collaboration between the University of Malaya and the University of Wales in 2012.

“I am excited to embark on this new challenge and hope to make a meaningful contribution and impact on the university’s community, reaching out to students and their parents and the industry. Our internationally-recognised degrees and the dual award with our partner university, the University of Wales will give students the impeccable advantage of a UK education,” she added.

During her time at Monash, Ooi was responsible for its digital marketing strategies, and was also responsible for brand and research positioning. Before that, she was with Taylor’s College for four years as senior manager – marketing, PR, social, sales and enrollment. She also worked at ACCA and International Medical University.

Ooi has more than 20 years of experience spearheading marketing initiatives for education brands, and is experienced in varied areas of marketing, branding, student recruitment, public and media relations, alumni engagement, community engagement and business development.
