Microsoft has named Haresh Khoobchandani, its chief marketing lead for consumer & online in APAC to helm the company’s Indonesian team as chief operating officer.
In the new role, Khoobchandani will take charge of both the commercial and consumer businesses in Indonesia, a market which Microsoft sees as one with the biggest growth potential across the region. He will focus on harnessing the diversity and strengths of the company’s teams to drive market growth.
He will report to Tracey Fellows, Asia Pacific vice president, Microsoft.
His previous role included overseeing Indonesian ops which has provided him with keen insights on the challenges and opportunities unique to the market, a statement from Microsoft said.
The announcement comes on the heels of Microsoft restructuring its regional ops naming Mauro Montanaro as general manager of its new consumer channels group in Asia Pacific.
The consumer channels group has evolved from the consumer and online (C&O) business which was headed by GM Mark Britt who recently moved to Australia to head Ninemsn.
Meanwhile, the advertising & online group, previously within the C&O business for Microsoft is now a separate entity headed by Bruno Fiorentini.
During his decade and a half with Microsoft, Khoobchandani has donned several country and leadership roles, including business marketing officer for Singapore where he was responsible for product marketing, public relations, corporate and social responsibility programmes, and branding.
