McLaren Automotive builds marketing team

McLaren Automotive has appointed George Biggs as head of sales and operations of Asia Pacific to help further accelerate the company’s growth and profitability in the region.

Based in Singapore, he will spearhead the company’s sales, marketing and after sales efforts across Australia and New Zealand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.

He reports to Mirko Bordiga, who leads the Asia Pacific operations as regional director, APAC, McLaren Automotive Asia. Bordiga is based out of Shanghai.

Prior to moving to the Asia Pacific region, Biggs was the global sales planning manager for McLaren Automotive based in the UK. He held the position since joining the company in 2012.

Before joining McLaren, Biggs worked for Deloitte Management Consultancy from 2007 to 2012 where he specialised in commercial strategy development and execution across Europe, North America and Australasia – and across industry verticals including automotive, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), manufacturing and healthcare.

“We are encouraged by the region’s rapid growth and great potential,” Bordiga said.

“Although McLaren is new in Asia, we’ve been expanding significantly in the region and are in good shape enhancing our team. With sales expertise from the UK, Biggs will make a great addition to our team in APAC and I am confident that as head of sales and operations, Biggs will play a major role in helping further grow the brand in the region.”
