McDo asks Filipinos to solve Fries Heist

McDonald's invites Filipinos to play detective in a unique Facebook campaign launched last week connected with an on-ground execution promoting its "World Famous French Fries."Together with longtime creative partner Leo Burnett Manila, the fast food chain set up a giant french fries model around 8-feet tall at Eastwood Mall, Libis. The exhibit drew a sizeable crowd but it mysteriously disappeared as soon as it it was opened to the public. This is where the Facebook game, aptly named "Fries Heist," starts. After following the McDonald's Philippines fan page, players gain access to five CCTV videos of alleged suspects behind the crime. Those who guess the right one gets a chance to win prizes in a raffle. The automated draw on 22 April will pick ten winners who will be rewarded with 5,000 worth of McDonald's gift certificate and a 100-day supply of free Medium French Fries. The campaign, however, seemed to have problems gaining traction online. Based on the average views of the clues McDonald's uploaded on YouTube, the highest of the five videos garnered just around 2,300 views.
