Maybank's pilot Photography Awards, launched 3 September to honour the best photographers in the country, has been well-received, having garnered more than 3,000 submissions in just over a week. The competition is inspired by the passion for photography among Malaysians - three million photos are uploaded on Facebook in Malaysia every day, making it one of the nation's biggest hobbies."In a time where cameras have become an integral part of all digital devices, photography has become a natural human response to the environment. People capture almost every moment of their lives through a digital camera," said Mohamed Adam Wee Abdullah, CMO, marketing and brand management for Maybank. He adds that the programme, which ends 31 October, associates very closely to the bank's brand value of ‘Humanising Financial Services Across Asia'."Given the great response for the contest so far we are optimistic that this will become an annual contest," said Abdullah. The programme allows both amateur and professional photographers to put their best work on display in the ‘Being Human'-themed competition.Besides digital marketing, Maybank has deployed an integrated marketing approach including editorial coverage in dailies and photography magazines throughout the contest duration. The programme is supported by industry heavyweights Leica, Profoto and HP. Submissions will be judged by a panel of judges involving the partners and the Maybank Corporate Affairs Team.Media duties for the campaign was handled by Zenith Malaysia, while Zed Digital was tasked with creative and website development, where photos are to be submitted.
