Matthias Schuecking exits Airbnb

Airbnb has appointed Juliana Nguyen as head of marketing for APAC. She replaces Matthias Schuecking (pictured)  who exits after a two year long tenure with the company. Matthias confirmed the move to Marketing.According to LinkedIn, Nguyen joins from Nike where she was its marketing director for around six years, where she was responsible for the growth of digital communities, grassroots and major event executions in the running and women’s categories.Before joining Airbnb in 2014, Schuecking was a regional marketing manager for Unilever. He led brand development projects in Southeast Asia and Australasia for brands like Dove, Lifebuoy, Vaseline. He drove the category strategy to drive growth, profitability and strengthen brand equity.Most recently, Lena Soennichsen, head of public relations & Social Media also moved on to be the head of communications at MEA (Middle East and Africa). Meanwhile Chai Jia Jih, regional MD of the company also left last year to take on the role of vice president, international with Shopping app Carousell.In this role, Chai will lead international growth to accelerate Carousell’s expansion worldwide, as well as support financial strategy and planning. He will be based in Carousell’s HQ in Singapore and will work closely with the co-founders as part of the leadership team.The hospitality brand teamed up with TBWA\Singapore last year for its “A different Paris” campaign to target the Asian markets. It led with a 60 seconds film featuring a Chinese woman reminiscing about the time she spent exploring Paris thanks to the recommendations from her Airbnb host.
