Marketing folks not in high demand in the region

The advertising, market research, PR, media and entertainment sector as a whole has witnessed negative year-on-year growth between September 2014 and September 2015.According to the latest statistics from Monster Employment Index (MEI), in Singapore, online hiring in this industry has fallen by 6% year-over-year. Marketing jobs are still in decline in Singapore at -9%.Singapore:In Malaysia, overall online hire has dropped by 9%.However, Malaysia is the only market where Marketing & Communications roles have experienced slight positive growth year-over-year for September 2015, at just 1%. The Retail sector saw the least decline in online recruitment activity at -3%. “The overall decline in the labour market is likely due to the negative economic outlook globally. Despite this, demands for sales and marketing roles, as well as customer service roles, will remain high due to the high turnover rates in the respective sectors in Malaysia,” said Sanjay Modi, managing director, Monster.com (India, Middle East, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong).“With the growing popularity of digital banking and information technology, demand for talent in these tech-related roles is also likely to increase as we move forward," he added.the Monster EmploymentThe Monster Index is a comprehensive monthly analysis of online job posting activity conducted by Monster India.
