The Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) in Malaysia is on the hunt for an agency to develop its web and mobile versions for its agrobazaar. According to a tender in the New Straits Times seen by A+M, the Ministry of Finance field codes for the tender are software/system development/customisation and maintenance including data entry and data processing. The tender closes on 15 October 2019.The agrobazaar was the brainchild of former Prime Minister Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi, following issues of soaring prices of basic items due to rising oil prices that took a toll on the lives of low and middle income people. The agrobazaar comprises business premises owned by entrepreneurs conducting retail business of daily essential items offering competitive prices.FAMA is a statutory board under Malaysia's Ministry of Agriculture and Agro Based Industry, which aims to improve the marketing of agro food products such as vegetables, fruits and agro-based industry products. FAMA is constantly ramping up efforts to enhance efficiency in the marketing chain by focusing on strengthening supply through the contract farming programme, expand market access, and improve the promotion of domestic export markets.(Photo courtesy: 123RF)
