L’Oréal Malaysia names new managing director

L’Oréal Malaysia has appointed Malek Bekdache as managing director. With full responsibility for the leadership and development of L’Oréal Malaysia, Bekdache will be playing a pivotal role in meeting the company’s aggressive growth goals as well as building the company’s reputation as the most desirable company in Malaysia focusing on people, innovation, digitisation and sustainability.Over 17 years of experience, Bekdache has held several positions at executive levels within L’Oréal l group. Bekdache joined L’Oréal group in 1996. After successive marketing positions in France, he returned to Lebanon where he created and established a coordination office for the group in the Middle East. In January 2000, Malek was appointed general manager of the Consumer Product Division in Dubai before being selected as head of the same division in Lebanon. Finally, in 2007, he became the managing director of the Lebanese subsidiary, where he developed the Group's position to become leader of the Lebanese market.In October 2008, Bekdache took a major challenge for the region with the launching of a new subsidiary in Egypt and the development of a regional industrial strategy and in August 2011, Malek Bekdache to Lebanon as managing director of the Lebanese subsidiary to build and develop a Levant hub. Under his leadership, L’Oréal Lebanon became L’Oréal Levant which, in addition to Lebanon, includes now Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Palestine.Pierre-Yves Arzel, managing director, South Asia Pacific said : “I’m confident that Bekdache is the right person to lead the company forward.
