Cat lovers, rejoice! For the next two weeks, people running in and out of South London's Clapham Common tube station will be greeted by an array of cats. These lovable feline creates are everywhere, looking at you, with kitty eyes and expressions ranging from happy, sad, angry, grumpy, cheerful, excited, dreamy...you name it, they've got it.The project caleld "Citizens advertising takeover service" is initiated by Glimpse, a new collective that wants to use "the power of creativity for good".Glimpse consists of volunteers who raised the money on Kickstarter, to get rid of 68 ads at the station and replace it with pictures of stray cats. These cats come from two rescue groups, the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and Cats Protection. According to an article on CNN, more than US$26,000 was raised."We hope it will help people think a bit differently about the world around them, and get inspired to change things for the better," said Glimpse's founder James Turner."This isn’t a clever marketing stunt for a pet food brand, or a guerrilla campaign for a new TV series [...] It’s important to say that we’re not against advertising. We need creativity more than ever, to open our eyes to new ways of looking at the world and thinking about our place within it," Turner said."We want agencies and brands to be mindful of the power they wield and to use it to encourage positive values in society. Things like empathy and tolerance, community and togetherness deserve to be at the heart of our culture," he added. We hope the campaign will inspire and urge you to adopt these cute little kitties, not only at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home and Cats Protection, but the world.Meow!
